Technology: a positive force that benefits the masses.

Big data, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT)...the technologies that reach maturity today are particularly useful tools for solving the problems of the modern world - provided their tremendous potential to bring about change is aimed at improving the quality of life of our fellow citizens.

At Viva Technology, we consider technology first and foremost as an exceptional chance to encourage positive social and economic developments.  This is the meaning of “Tech for Good,” a concept which plays a crucial role at Viva Technology.

“Tech for Good” is also a goal shared by the President of France, who will kick off the Tech for Good Summit one day before the start of VivaTech. This summit will gather the most influential tech leaders in the world to discuss the impact of technology on education and work, and the best way to make technology more inclusive. The conclusions and recommendations which come out of this summit will be presented at VivaTech on Thursday, May 24th, on Stage One.

A cycle of conferences dedicated to Tech for Good, where social entrepreneurs and tech leaders will share their views on the latest technologies which have a positive impact on society, education, and the environment. Featuring keynote speakers: Leila Janah of Samasource and Aurélie Jean of MIXR.

Positive Impact Challenge

A joint project with Sparknews, this challenge gives startups who have a positive impact on society the chance to pitch in front of a panel of journalists assembled by Sparknews. This year’s topics:

Making the planet more sustainable: what are the best ways to sort, reduce, and recycle our waste? Sponsored by Citeo.
Living better at home and with others: which new housing models promote social ties and a greener lifestyle? Sponsored by the MAIF.
Those with the best project proposals will have their ideas published on the media belonging to the partners of the challenge.

“Make our planet green again”

The “Make our planet green again” competition awards ceremony, organized by the FAMAE Foundation and hosted by Marie Drucker, to be held on Stage X will feature a jury with several prominent members, including Cédric Villani. “Make our planet green again” is the largest competition ever to be held on the topics of innovation and sustainable development. Backed by €1 million in funds, the competition requires applicants to find “a simple yet innovative solution for recycling or reducing the two tons of waste generated by an average urban family.” Currently, 1,500+ participants from 70 countries and over 60 universities and French “grandes écoles” have entered the competition.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday morning, May 26th, with the FAMAE Foundation.

Giving young people a chance

Viva Technology has teamed up with Make.org to “Give young people a chance”.

This worthy and unique cause began on April 5th, 2018, with an extensive digital survey sent to more than to 500,000 people. VivaTech 2018 will hold large workshops with startups, citizens, and associations. The Viva Technology Grand Prix will be awarded at the end of the day to the best project. Make.org will ensure the project is implemented, and invite all who participated in the survey to get on board to make a difference.
