Viva Stories: bringing the most successful partnerships to light

The Viva Technology concept, which is centered around connecting startups and large corporations, offers up-and-coming businesses an extraordinary opportunity to take advantage of the support and supervision of a large corporation to accelerate their growth. For large corporations, the concept is a key driver of innovation and an indispensable lever for fostering their digital transformation. Since the first edition in 2016, VivaTech has helped to forge some extremely successful partnerships, including LVMH & Heuritech, AccorHotels & Sensorwake, Sodexo & Klaxit, Sanofi & Nutrino, and many more.

These success stories have encouraged VivaTech, in 2018, to once again pave the way for as many fruitful collaborations as possible.

1,500+ startups, 50% of which are international

In 2018, we received 8,418 applications, or twice as many as in 2017. From these applications, 1,500 startups were selected, 50% of which are based outside of France.

Beginning with startup sourcing during 102 challenges - calls for projects which allow our major partners to select startups for their labs - and concluding with the possibility of being funded/incubated or securing commercial contracts, Viva Technology provides new possibilities for startups as well as its major corporate partners by way of labs where the two can get together to discuss new ideas.

Challenges Press Release + Infographic

In addition to the labs, several other opportunities will be available for startups at the event:

  • Come and pitch in one of three pitch areas, and network with or be selected by major partners such as Samsung and Volkswagen. New this year: one of the three pitch areas will be dedicated entirely to the Smart City theme, a project by “Métropole du Grand Paris,” a partner of VivaTech.
  • For the second year in a row, LVMH will present its LVMH Innovation Award to one of the 30 startup finalists participating on the LVMH Luxury Lab. All the startups (from China, Canada, Israel, South Korea, the UK, the USA, and France) will have the opportunity to pitch their models. Chosen from 17 different categories, including retail and e-commerce, artificial intelligence, social media, blockchain, the struggle against counterfeiting, and sustainable development, one of these 30 startups will go home with the prize delivered by Bernard Arnault.
  • Head over to the “Accelerate” area to take advantage of new business opportunities. The “Office Hours” area, in particular, will allow the best startups to mingle with some of the biggest French, European, and global investors, including Accel Partners, Partech Ventures, Balderton Capital, Earlybird Ventures, BCG DV, Atomico, Index Ventures, Idinvest, and Iris Capital.
  • Join one of the 4 startup villages in the “Startup Corner” and meet all the visitors attending the event.
  • Attend conferences at Startup Academy to gain practical insight on how to raise funds or expand internationally.
  • In the Mentor Lounge, a joint project by CCI Paris Île-de-France, the Institut du Mentorat, and Moovjee, startups and project owners can spend 3 days exploring the how and why of mentoring, and meet seasoned entrepreneurs during seminars, networking workshops, and pitches.
  • Finally, the Scale-Up Lounge, a space where mature startups can be advised by leading experts on all issues regarding growth and development (fundraising, evaluation, hypergrowth, exit, etc.), will be sponsored by the “Ordre des Experts Comptables” (OECC) and “Conseil national des commissaires au compte” (CNCC) for the full 3 days of VivaTech.
