Above all else, the digital revolution is a revolution of talent. Today more than ever, companies are in search of qualified workers who can help them undergo their digital transformation in the best possible manner. At the same time, new lines of work are emerging and current professions evolving, thereby creating a variety of opportunities for those interested in digital technology.

VivaTech is therefore taking special care this year to address issues surrounding talent, recruitment, and human resources.

Universities & Grandes écoles are largely represented at VivaTech

This year at VivaTech, special emphasis will be placed on today’s youth. The event hopes to attract 20,000 students from all over France and Europe, allowing the latter to get a first-hand look at the reality of the digital revolution and plan for careers in the world of tomorrow.

Some of the partners of VivaTech 2018 include HEC, Sciences Po, Ionis Education Group, IMT, Telecom Paris Tech, Digital School of Paris, 42, EDHEC, EFREI Paris/Tech, EISTI, ICP, ISEP, Cergy-Pontoise University, University of Panthéon-Sorbonne, ESSEC, and second-chance schools in France.

Talent Connect

The Viva Technology jobboard, developed by ManpowerGroup, has been in place since the middle of April 2018.  VivaTech partners and startups have already posted more than 400 job offers (many of which only appear on the board) with the goal of recruiting some of the many talented young individuals who will be attending the event. Talent Connect expects to generate more than 3,000 job applications.

In partnership with the association “Nos Quartiers ont des Talents”, mentors will counsel young people during coaching sessions scheduled all day Saturday in the Scale-Up Lounge. On the program: personal development, preparing for job interviews, resumes and cover letters, and more. Young members of the association will also be mentored by leaders in business and politics.

Mentor  Lounge

A joint project by CCI Paris Île-de-France, the Institut du Mentorat, and Moovjee allowing startups and project owners to spend 3 days exploring the how and why of mentoring, and meet entrepreneurs during seminars, networking workshops, and pitches.

Scale-Up Lounge

Sponsored by the “Ordre des Experts Comptables” (OECC) and “Conseil national des commissaires au compte” (CNCC), the Scale-Up Lounge is a space where mature startups can be advised by leading experts on all issues regarding growth and development (fundraising, evaluation, hypergrowth, exit, etc.). Expert opinions, testimonials, and coaching sessions will alternate during the first two days (dedicated to professionals) of VivaTech.

Paris Code

In association with the Mairie de Paris, programming courses will be offered on Saturday, May 26, in the Equality Lounge. These courses have been created specifically for people who are currently not working, such as job seekers and high school dropouts.

Promoting women in tech

Women are largely underrepresented in the digital world. We at VivaTech are convinced of the need for strong role models to inspire and encourage women to get started in the field of technology.

This year, VivaTech hopes to serve as a stepping stone for women who wish to learn more about digital technology or create their own businesses.

To do so, we must lead by example: of all the speakers at the 3rd edition of VivaTech, at least 40% will be women. While this mark had already reached 34% in 2017, the increase for 2018 constitutes an important step towards real gender equality.

The Equality Lounge

During the 3 days of VivaTech 2018, Salesforce will host a special space to highlight diversity and personal differences in tech by way of numerous panels, seminars, and networking sessions addressing topics such as “Women in Leadership,” “Equality,” and "Workforce Development & Education.”

The #Girlpower conference

In association with ELLE magazine, inspirational “role models” will offer valuable advice to more than a thousand young women on how to succeed in the digital world. Marie-Claire Capobianco, Manager of Retail Banking in France at BNP Paribas, Rachel Delacour, Vice President of Zendesk for Startups and Co-Founder of Zendesk Explore, Aurélie Jean, scientist and Founder of In Silico Veritas, Joséphine Bouchez, Co-Founder of Ticket for Change, and Hannah Oiknine, Co-Founder of Babbler will share their experiences with the audience.

Saturday morning, May 26th, on Stage One

Something for the youngest participants: Startup for Kids

On Saturday, Startup for Kids will hold programming workshops in the Workshop Room to help children aged 6-12 make practical use of new technologies (creating websites and mobile apps, etc.).
